Singer, composer, and actor, Valenciano planted his musical roots by joining the glee club Kundirana, which performed on school campuses and was immensely popular. His first television appearance was in the Pilita and Jackie Show, but his performances for Germspesyal and Penthouse Live! gained him the notice of the mass audience. A series of concerts at Tavern at the Square followed. In April 1984, he made a big leap to the top of the pop music world via his first major concert, Alive!. Valenciano has several albums to his name, all of which enjoyed success. He has also appeared in TV commercials for major products and composed commercial jingles. As a musical arranger, he has arranged most of his recent releases in recording including Shout for Joy, Gaya ng Dati, and That's Why. He also composed three songs and did the musical scoring for most of the arrangements for the first English Christian musical First Name written by Freddie Santos. He finished musical scoring for the Christian film Hinugot Sa Dilim. Valenciano earned numerous awards for his performances, recordings, and compositions. He was the lead actor in the TV drama Goodbye, My Friend, the episode that won for Lovingly Yours, Helen the Best Television Drama Series award from the Catholic Mass Media Awards or CMMA. The Star Awards also cited him as New Movie Actor of 1991 for his peformance in Lino Brocka's Kung Tapos Na Ang Kailanman.
